One of the activities of the Bonnell Building Project is to provide space, infrastructure and support for community members with startup projects and organizations (nonprofit and for-profit) that fit into one or more of the areas listed in our mission (social entrepreneurship, science and technology, business, the arts).
Current projects include:
The Beauty Shop
A centerpiece of the Bonnell Building Project, the Beauty Shop provides a unique opportunity to countless young community members to develop and share their creative talents. It came about because two young people, Dom and Phil Rabalais, wanted to turn one space in the building into a music performance venue. They enlisted volunteers and got financial and equipment donations to renovate an available space into a venue that now not only regularly hosts performances by local and touring musicians but also popular art shows featuring the work of young people and movie showings. It includes a cafe serving coffee, tea, and baked goods. The venue is managed by a group of young people. For more information, go to beautyshopfairfield@gmail.com.
Recording Studio
